Anne Koo Thornquist, SPHR

Anne Koo Thornquist is Koo HR’s Founder and President.  She brings over 20 years of wide-ranging Human Resources experience to the organization.  Anne is a subject matter expert in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion as well as HR compliance, HR best practices, and policy & procedure development.

Early on

Prior to taking on her current role, Anne served in multiple capacities for the YMCA.  She was a member of the diversity and inclusion task force where she drove the Inclusion initiative that won an award from the Chamber of Commerce.  She also won the Andrew Young Award that stemmed from the work.  Other accomplishments include transforming the corporate Human Resources department to better align with organizational goals, recruiting key executives, and significantly improving staff retention. 

During her early career in insurance and healthcare, Anne built best-in-class organizations through the development and implementation of robust HR strategies.   

Current

Anne maintains a professional designation as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) through the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI).  She is an active member of the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM).  She has served as Membership Chair with the Employer’s Advisory Council of Orange County (EACOC) and Vice Chair of the Multicultural Mentoring Program through the YMCA of USA. 

Due to her infectious energy and engaging content, she is a highly sought-after presenter in the area of leadership development.

Anne earned an MBA from the University of Phoenix and a Bachelor of Science degree in Healthcare Administration from California State University.

She lives in Dallas, Texas with her husband and two daughters.
